Hall Road Rangers vs Rainworth MW

Haworth Park

Saturday April 14

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division

By Oliver Harsley

A week after their crucial 4-3 win at Worksop Town, Hall Road Rangers will be back in NCEL Premier Division action tomorrow as they welcome Rainworth Miners Welfare to Haworth Park (3pm).

Despite not being able to play a game this week so far because of postponements, Rangers will still have the hunger and desire to be ready for the challenges that Rainworth MW will pose them in this game.

One thing that should encourage Hall Road is the level of performance they have shown against sides in the top half of the division in recent games. Rangers had plenty of good spells in their home games against Pontefract Collieries and Maltby Main in the last few weeks but were unable to get a result because of defensive errors. Without these mistakes, Hall Road are more than capable of picking up a result against any side in the division and 9th placed Rainworth MW are no exception.

The last time these sides met ended in a 2-0 defeat for Rangers as Rainworth MW won thanks to goals from Nathan Modest and Tomas Poole. There are a handful of players in the Rainworth MW ranks that could cause Hall Road a lot of damage on Saturday if they are not properly picked up on. The aforementioned Poole and Kyle Jordan have both been amongst the goals recently so they will need to eased out of the game completely if Rangers are to pick up a positive result.

If Hall Road were to win this game they would have an even bigger chance of staying in the NCEL Premier Division. They could even push themselves out of the relegation zone should Harrogate Railway Athletic lose at home to Albion Sports on Saturday. However, Rangers would still have a couple of games in hand on the sides above them so it is all down to what they do and they more than anyone would want to determine their own destiny rather than relying on others to do it for them.

This game will be followed by another home match on Tuesday night when Bottesford Town are the visitors to Haworth Park. The support of the fans has been exceptional for the whole of this season and that must carry on through this tricky period for the club as everyone must pull together in the same direction. It can only add to the momentum Hall Road have at the moment and if that continues during the next couple of weeks and they pick up more impressive results then that will guarantee their NCEL Premier Division status for another season.
