Hall Road Rangers have their first game of 2023 on Saturday as they face Reckitts AFC at Hull University. It’s almost a month since Rangers were last in action when they won 0-4 against St Mary’s AFC in early December.
Rangers would make it three successive league wins on the bounce if they defeat Reckitts. This could potentially leave them sitting in third place in the Humber Premier League Premier Division table.
Contrastingly, Reckitts sit at the bottom of the league table and are yet to secure a league victory this season. They’ve played 10 league games thus far which have resulted in three draws and seven defeats.
Former Rangers striker Rich Medcalf is Reckitts’ top scorer with six goals to his name so far this campaign. Meanwhile, Harry Cavanagh provides another dangerous attacking threat as he possesses a tally of five goals.
Rangers boss Chris Burke wants his side to start the year in winning style:
“Firstly, Happy New Year everyone. Hope you all had a lovely festive break.
It’s soon come back round again. With two good results before we broke up for Christmas, we’ll be looking to kick on now in 2023 and carry on putting points on the board.
This Saturday against Reckitts will be no easy game. They have some good players and experienced players. I think the problem they’ve had this season is being able to get the same 14/15 out each week. Regardless of their league position, we’ll certainly not take the game lightly.
The lads have been ticking over whilst we’ve been off and we also had a good session on Wednesday night to blow away some cobwebs too. Come Saturday, I fully expect us to be bang at it and start the New Year with three points.”
