Hall Road Rangers return to Humber Premier League Premier Division action on Saturday when they take on South Cave United at Haworth Park.
After their East Riding Senior Cup victory at North Ferriby FC on Tuesday night, Rangers will be keen to build on that and improve their recent league form. They would move up to fifth place with a victory against South Cave this weekend.
South Cave are the current occupiers of fifth spot in the league table and have picked up 18 points from 11 league games played. If South Cave take all three points on Saturday, it would put them into fourth place and leave them just three points behind league leaders Hedon Rangers.
The previous league meeting between Rangers and South Cave took place in September. Kian Salter put Rangers in front on the day, but a Josh Tennant brace and strikes from Craig Sedman and Tom Andrews gave South Cave a 4-1 victory.
Rangers first team head coach Matt Gray says there’s plenty of positivity within the squad heading into the game:
“This weekend, our focus returns to the league and we’re looking to build on the success of midweek with another good performance on Saturday against South Cave.
We have a good idea what to expect from our opponents, having played them earlier in the season, and we know we have to produce a much better performance than we did that day to get a result on Saturday.
We had a light recovery session this week, following the midweek game, and the mood around the group is buoyant. Everyone knows there’s hard work ahead of us to get our league form back on track.
That starts with a good performance and hopefully three points on Saturday.”
