Hall Road Rangers will aim to earn a second consecutive Humber Premier League Premier Division victory when they face St Mary’s AFC at Hull University on Saturday.

There’ll be renewed confidence in the Rangers squad after their 5-3 victory against Hessle Sporting Club last Saturday. They’ll look to build on that recent success and secure a win which could lift them back into the top five.

St Mary’s are second bottom in the league table and have lost 10 of their 14 league games. However, they toppled Hedon Rangers in their last league game with a 5-4 win. Four of the St Mary’s goals were scored by Albie Collier and he now has six goals to his name this season.

These sides last met in the league in October when Rangers earned a 3-1 victory at Haworth Park. Lewis Andrew, Luke Bullement and Tom Oliver all got on the scoresheet for Rangers whilst Kobby Phouangsavath scored for St Mary’s.

Ahead of this latest league meeting, Rangers boss Chris Burke said:

“I’ve seen them play a couple of times. I wasn’t here for the reverse fixture due to my operation and things.

I’ve only seen them play against other opposition and it was kind of a mixed bag. Seeing that they beat Hedon last week has given me something else to think about because it’s not going to be an easy game.

We had a look at things in training on Wednesday night. A couple of the lads picked up a couple of niggles last week with it being a bit of a hard fought game, so we made sure they’re alright.

If the lads apply themselves and go about their business the same way as they did last week, I’m quietly confident that we’ll come away with another three points going into Christmas. The lads can then enjoy their break and we’ll come back firing after Christmas.”
